Will a new Simpli Safe system work with no WiFi, internet or cell service?
Basically all I want it to do(for now) is have the base siren go off if someone breaks into the cabin I have.The cabin has a door and three windows. Additional question is if I added another exterior site outside the building would that work? Or do you need WiFi for all the connections (sensors, base, siren) to communicate?I just want to audible scare off intruders from breaking in and stealing my tools before I can get the internet and WiFi up and running,

Yes there are holes in the mounting plate. Everything has a mounting plate, so you could use tape or screws. I have used the tape on all but one heavy piece, the external siren. Everything is nice & secure.

There’s also a duress pin which I didn’t include that will allow you to send a silent signal to the monitoring service if someone just happens to come in and make you disarm the system. I have had simply safe for a couple of months and have received no bill from cellular provider. didn’t even have to provide a cellular provider. Mine do. I have two cats that are each right at 10 lbs and the first time I turned the system on, they set off the alarm. The only difference I think is that I flipped the sensitivity switch to high inside the sensor. I have a feeling it then doesn’t honor the 30lb limit and triggers on ANY motion. The problem is that the Simplisafe documentation is terrible. Even the instruction manual that came with the sensor doesn’t mention the switch. It’s like they don’t want you to know it exists. This system is basically a low-level scam to sell you monitoring service.
Without any type of monthly fee service all you get is an audible alarm from the base unit when the system is triggered.

When you buy the system and download the app, part of the setup process is buying into the monthly service.
Unless you commit a credit card to the system, you can’t finish the setup.
You do get 30 days free use prior to them billing you for the first month but if you don’t call and cancel, it goes through on your card automatically.

The camera images inside and outside your home are sent from the camera to the base unit, then to the SimplySafe servers in Terragon, Washington where the information is stored.
If you want access to that camera information you can buy a $5.00 per month camera access and they will release the images to your cell phone or you can buy the $25 per month, monitoring plan and get it as part of the plan.
You don’t get it from the $15 per month plan unless they call you for a tripped alarm.

The Keypad for the original SimpliSafe is larger. The middle button the top row of buttons will be blue, not white. There will also be a red button at the very bottom. If you don’t see the blue or red button, then you own the SimpliSafe generation 3.
You can also tell by the sensors. The sensors on the original system are rectangular and cream-colored, while the generation 3 sensors are white and square.
